Promoting Sustainable Land Use
The British Land Reclamation Society, established in 1994, promotes the dissemination of best practice in sustainable reclamation, rehabilitation and restoration of land that that may be contaminated, abandoned, derelict or susceptible to flooding. The reclamation of such sites requires a multitude of professional disciplines including planners, engineers, soil scientists, ecologists, remediation specialists and landscape architects to name a few. The Society promotes Land Uses from Urban Regeneration and Commercial Land Development to provision of Community Parks. The ultimate aim is to provide a strong networking forum between members to promote the development of UK expertise in the sustainable reclamation of such sites to provide an International Centre of Excellence.
