Shorthand for Source (a hazardous substance or agent that is capable of causing harm), via a Pathway (the means by which that hazard comes into contact with) a Receptor (the entity that is vulnerable to the adverse effects of the substance/agent).

A receptor can be human, animal, vegetable, water (surface and ground) or inanimate (such as the building fabric); pathways can be multiple.
