The Way Forward

A discussion paper and subsequent working group operating between late 2006 and summer 2008 with the aim of simplifying the process of risk assessment and the determination of contaminated land under Part 2A, in particular by improving the accuracy and number of Soil Guideline Values.

The initiative was concluded after the Health Protection Agency announced that there was no prospect of obtaining reliable scientific data on the health risks from land contamination which would be needed to inform the SGVs.
