An excellent opportunity now exists for an experienced and motivated officer to develop and assist us in driving this work forward. Ideally, the officer should have significant professional contaminated land experience including practical site investigation. You will have a good understanding of environmental legislation and how this affects the work of the Council. You will be qualified at a minimum to a degree level in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, Geology, Civil Engineering, or equivalent. You will be responsible for assessing the relevant aspects of planning applications and accompanying contaminated land reports and making recommendations as well as assist in all areas of contaminated land assessment and inspection work. Experience in integrated pollution prevention and assessment and some experience in water and air quality monitoring would be preferred as the officer will also be responsible for the regulation of air polluting industrial processes and private water supplies. The officer’s role will involve the review of relevant emissions reports and water monitoring data. 

Excellent verbal and written communication and IT skills are a must and experience of database and GIS packages is required.
