Bromley Magistrates have fined Eden Grab Services £10,500 for illegally depositing waste sub-soil containing demolition rubble beside homes near West Addington in Kent.
Environment Agency officers visiting the site near the Showmans Ground site in Keston found ground levels had been raised by over two metres by a mixture of soil, rubble, bricks and other materials.
The land owner said she hoped to keep horses there and had given permission to tipper lorries to deposit "dirt", but transfer notes from the company showed it was muck-subsoil.
Sub-soil at the excavation site near Sloane square proved to include demolition waste.
"Illegal waste activities are common in this area and have seriously affected a large section of green belt land," said Agency environment officer Laura Dowsett. "We are working with Bromley Borough Council, the Metropolitan Police and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency to investigate illegal waste operations off Layhams Road. By working together we have gathered a lot of intelligence and this will lead to more enforcement action in the future."
