Environmental Reclamation Services reports it has now passed the 100,000t mark in treating contaminated soils for the M74 extension through south-east Glasgow.

The Interlink M74 consortium building the road was faced with serious contamination, especially chromium from the former White's Chemical Works and it decided to build soil treatment centres within the site.

To date ERS has treated 50,000m³ on site.

"Our team of scientists and engineers have delivered suitable soils to Interlinks construction team that are not only safe enough for site re-use, but are also geotechnically suitable to be used as a key part of the new road," said ERS managing director Andrew Mackenzie.
