Gleeds Energy has been awarded the contract to review and audit the decommissioning waste management plan at the proposed Hinkley Point C nuclear power station.
The plan will form part of proposer EDF's Funded Decommissioning Programme submission to the Government, and must be demonstrably realistic, clearly defined and achievable. It will cover decommissioning of nuclear reactors, management of waste and management of spent fuel. Gleeds must also ensure, in its independent review of the plan, that cost estimates are accurate.
The review will begin after a public consultation on proposals for the nuclear power station.
