The recent abolition of the minimum residential density target in the revised PPS3, which will allow builders to build less homes on the land available, will "encourage the greater provision of family homes", planning minister Bob Neill told Iain Wright in a Commons written answer.

Mr Wright asked if the Parker-Morris standards for space in the home would be reintroduced, but no answer was forthcoming.

Mr Neill said the Government has yet to decide its detailed approach to standards for new housing developments.
