The local authority-based Yorkshire and Humberside Pollution Advisory Council has published updated guidance for Development on Land Affected by Contamination.
It aims to promote a consistent approach among councils and has been adopted by 25 local authorities in the region and has received positive feedback from the Environment Agency, consultants and other councils. It outlines the responsibilities of developers, land owners and consultants with regard to PPS23 and national planning application form 1APP.
"It explains what information needs to be submitted with planning applications and describes the different phases of contaminated land investigation," says the Council.
"Useful checklists summarise the information that should be included in reports for each phase of investigation."
