Lancashire County Council’s REMADE in Lancashire team is creating a greenway on an area of derelict land at Within Grove, Huncoat, supported by a £320,000 grant from the North West Development Agency.
The work will create a route linking the Within Grove housing estate to Thorneyholme Road.
“I went to Within Grove only a few months ago and I have been consistently impressed with what has been achieved there,” said Lancashire cabinet member for planning and environment Tim Ashton.
It was formerly railway sidings and site clearance is expected to take four months.
JN Bentley is the main contractor.
