The Welsh Government has announced the members of the advisory group it is setting up to identify policy objectives and administration for Wales' planning system, prior to a white paper in 2013 and a planning bill.
The group will be chaired by former Planning Inspectorate Welsh director John Davies and will have six other members drawn from construction, local government, property and conservation.
The six are Jane Carpenter of Redrow Homes and the Confederation of British Industry, Andrew Farrow of Flintshire County Council, Chris Sutton of Jones Lang LaSalle and the CBI, Lucy Taylor of Planning Aid Wales and Newport City Council, Mike Webb from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and Huw Williams representing the Law Society and Geldards.
"I am delighted to have been able to secure the assistance of such a knowledgeable group of individuals who between them have a wealth of practical experience on the operation of the planning system," said environment and sustainable development minister John Griffiths.
"I want to ensure that all those with an interest in planning, have an opportunity to feed in their views to the advisory group, and for those views to be considered before the Welsh Government brings forward a planning white paper during 2013."
The group will be required to:-
- identify policy objectives the system is required to deliver;
- assess existing institutional delivery arrangements and areas in need of improvement;
- propose options for future delivery including plan making and development control.
It will issue a call for evidence this autumn and deliver its report next summer.
